A Journey on Tranquil Currents
This multi-day river expedition begins near Miandrivazo and flows
westward toward Belo-sur-Tsiribihina, offering a tranquil immersion into
Madagascar’s untouched interior. Guests travel aboard motorized barges or
traditional canoes, drifting past dry deciduous forests, cliffs, and remote
villages. Along the way, they’ll stop at natural pools and waterfalls like
Anosinampela, where swimming is possible, and camp on sandbanks under starry
skies. Wildlife sightings include lemurs, herons, and crocodiles. The descent
typically lasts 2 to 3 days, covering over 100 km. Recommended gear includes
light clothing, swimwear, hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, and camping
essentials. Activities include river navigation, swimming, wildlife observation,
village visits, and overnight camping in nature.
