Stone Forest of Wonders
Located near Bekopaka, about 200 km north of Morondava, this UNESCO
World Heritage site is home to the Grand Tsingy—towering limestone formations
carved by erosion into razor-sharp pinnacles and deep canyons. Visitors explore
via suspension bridges, narrow crevices, and panoramic viewpoints, encountering
lemurs, birds, and rare plants along the way. The terrain is rugged and requires
moderate to high physical fitness. A full-day or multi-day visit is recommended.
Essential gear includes hiking shoes, gloves, long pants, water, and sun
protection. Activities include trekking, climbing, wildlife spotting, cave
exploration, and geological interpretation in one of Madagascar’s most dramatic
landscapes.
