Located about 35 km south of Diego Suarez, Montagne d’Ambre is a
lush volcanic massif rising to 1,475 meters, covered in tropical rainforest and
often shrouded in mist. Visitors will explore cool, shaded trails through dense
vegetation, encountering waterfalls like Cascade Antomboka, crater lakes, and
endemic wildlife such as crowned lemurs, chameleons, and leaf-tailed geckos. The
park is ideal for nature walks and birdwatching. The excursion typically lasts
4–6 hours depending on the trail chosen. Comfortable walking shoes, long pants,
and a light rain jacket are recommended due to the humid microclimate.
Activities include guided hikes, wildlife spotting, and photography in one of
Madagascar’s oldest protected areas.
